A. Yes. The process is very simple. You connect any combination of batteries that equal to 12 volts. Radio shack sells a battery pack that holds 8 AA batteries (12 volts) that is simple to attach the the CatFish Buddy and works great. You can wade in "shallow water" downstream using the stunner.
